Weekly Update 05/14/2019

Celebrating athletic achievements that better ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

Hey everyone,

Spring is finally here in full (I think) and there are lots of group opportunities for getting outside and being active. Keep and eye on Slack, Facebook and here in the Newsletter for opportunities to get involved with your team. Above all be safe if you're out there on the road, whether you're riding or running. The upcoming Ice Cream Social (details below) at the Fairbanks is going to require plenty of help. Check the list to see if there's a way you can help. We are hopeful that this event will be well attended and we'd like it run as smoothly as possible.

As many of you know - the family of Scott Corby asked folks attending his celebrate life service, in lieu of flowers, to donate to the community bike shop. The family was very interested in us doing something with the funds that would help/relate directly to kids - as kids on bikes was one of Scott's favorite things/missions. So we've come up with a "School's Out Kids: Ice-Cream/Root-beer/Float Social For Kids on Bikes" for youth in and around the neighborhood to show up on bikes at the shop the day after SGF schools get out. https://www.facebook.com/events/2292819797628253/

And so we need volunteers:
  1. To buy (you’ll get reimbursed) ice cream and get it to the event still frozen with serving tools and in  a way to keep it cold.
  2. To buy (you’ll get reimbursed) root beer and get it to the event cold, with cups/mugs and in a way to keep it cold.
  3. To buy (you’ll get reimbursed) mugs/cups, spoons, napkins, etc. and get them to the event.
  4. To help set up the event at 5:15 pm on Wednesday May 22.
  5. To help at the event serve:
    1. Ice Cream
    2. Root beer
    3. Floats
  1. To help tune up kids’ bikes, and help fit kids with helmets.
  2. To get more helmets from Aaron Sacch’s office, if we need them – Jon Brusherd – do we?
  3. To tear down/clear up after the event.
  4. Whatever I have forgotten.
If you are able to volunteer, please let Neil Chanter know and if you have a preference as to your role – else we’ll just plug you in where needed.
