Weekly Update 5/31/2021

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

The SBCA Ultra-Runners put the Ultra in Ultra-Running over the weekend. Nicole Fleming is made from different materials evidently. She found the podium's top step at Infinitus 250 (260+ miles), setting a new course record for females. Gary Shaw completed yet another hundo at the Infinitus 100. Rachel Baker and Melissa Bland set a goal of 3 50 milers in the same month and got it done over the weekend. Fantastic achievements for all.

On the cycling side of things, The Judge won the master at the Jesse Blancarte TT in New Century Kansas. This was a full 10k out and back, and the wind was not on his side. He was able to come out with a 25.7 mph average. Charles Givens placed 2nd in both the cat 4 and masters 55+. He came out with an average of 24.9 mph.

Weekly Update 5/24/2021

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

Weather notwithstanding, we had several folks representing the Red and Black this weekend. It seems most of Springfield attended an exciting bike race in Bentonville. Rule of 3 is a race on three different surfaces (Tarmac-Gravel-Single track MTB) but using the same bike for all three. Dathan Atchison represented SBC/BO Racing team in the 100-mile Individual division and did very well in an elite field of racers that included none other than Lance Armstrong and Payson McElveen (Marathon MTB National Champion). Speaking first hand as a spectator, expect more of this kind of event. It was sold out and well attended, even though the weather was crap. The weather made the course even more interesting. Clinton Petty and David Beach braved some less than favorable conditions to add  Ironman finishes in Tulsa OK.  This week's big news is Toby Dogwiler laying down a blistering pace on foot and on wheels to power himself to a Duathlon National Championship spot. This win adds another National Championship to SBC Athletics Trophy Case. Congratulations Toby!

Still, a few tickets left for Tour De Brew. Get 'em while you can. Link for Tickets This is also the LAST CALL for Tour De Brew Shirts! Order here! 100% of the profit from this year's shirt supports the Fairbanks Bike Shop!

Weekly Update 5/2/2021

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

It's beginning to seem a little more like normal. This weekend brought us the FHT Iron Horse Gravel Race. Last look it was sold out. SBCA had several athletes toe the line. The organizers did a good job of running a rather large event given the circumstances.

SBC Bike Shop at the Fairbanks season starts THIS WEEK. Please pick a night and volunteer.  Mechanics are meeting every Monday from 6-8 to get ready for the season. We open to the public this Wednesday. Sign up to volunteer HERE. This is a very rewarding way to get to know other teammates and give back to the community at the same time.

Keaton Garret's Heartland Racing is growing and he's looking for help. Check here if you're interested.

Pirate Perry Events is offering SBCA members a 20% discount at Trail Fest for MS. The 20% promo code is "SBCA". Trail Fest for MS is an off-road duathlon series in NWA (trail run>MTB>trail run). TrailFest Link: Here

Running this another week; There's a new Saturday Morning ride option specifically for women. Beginning May 1st, Heather Cribs will be leading a bi-weekly ride from SBC. Routes TBD and will begin at around 30 miles and progress to around 50. This ride is designed to give women an outlet to feel safe and comfortable riding their bikes in a group on the road.

As racing returns to the scene, amazing results follow. If you have race results you would like to see in the newsletter, the best way to make sure we get them is by email- John, or Stephanie
