Weekly Update 9/27/2021

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

The big news this week is Toby Dogwiler's absolutely fantastic win at Long Course Duathlon National Championships. Toby laid down some spectacular splits to win his division and finish 6th overall. This adds yet another National Championship trophy to the SBCA collection. Additionally, a couple of our Ultra Runners topped overall podiums this weekend. Gary Shaw wrote a pretty fantastic race report about his experience at the Bristow Backwoods Beer Mile and Games- Here. Former SBCA member turned Pro Triathlete Danielle Lewis came in ahead of Mirinda Carfrae to snag 3rd overall at IM70.3 Augusta.

THIS WEEK!- The one and only Tour Divide legend and all-around great guy, Hal Russell, has written a book - "Touch Both Lines." Hear all about the Book and how to order it. Ask Hal questions about endurance/ultra events, his life, and service. Pretty much whatever you want to ask a legend. 🙂 Book for sale here

Trailfest is coming up, and registration is open. This is always a great event for the trail runners, and a terrific precursor to the Dogwood Canyon Trail races a month later. The event will be at 2 Rivers in Highlandville. Details and registration can be found HERE

You may or may not be aware that Springfield has a NICA team in the Missouri Interscholastic Cycling League. The 3rd race in this season's series will be held this weekend at our own local Two Rivers Mountain Bike Park. They are currently seeking volunteers to fill a number of roles. Sign up Here. If you want to see the future of MTB and likely the future of cycling in the US, you'll see it here. The league runs a very professional event. Watching the sportsmanship and competition is very inspiring.

Weekly Update 9/20/2021

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

Another excellent week for every discipline.  The Double Hundy had a solid crew with 3 distance PR's and two first-time Double Century riders. Steve Monsanto crossed the line at IM Maryland to a solid finish. Running is back in a big way with our regulars finding some spots on the podium. Judge Sifferman continues to amaze by finding the top step at the KS State Championships in 5k and 10k TTs.

Weekly Update 9/13/21

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

We had an excellent turnout for the After Work Century on Friday evening. Several riders did the full hundo. A handful of others bailed out somewhere along the route, and a few others joined in partway. The weather was just about perfect, especially when the sun got low in the sky. The company was equally as good.  By all reports, SBCA was well represented at Run the Rock. A couple of members reported podium spots for this race. Brad Wright was a finisher at a tough Pony Express 120 Gravel Dash. Take the time to read his race report. It's an excellent read and a little insight into how conditions dictate results regardless of planning and training.

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

Leaving this up another week. Please read and participate; As we, as a club, approach our 10th Anniversary (2022), we are looking into the future for SBCA - and want/need your input.  Please take a second to complete this survey here.

SBC showed its broad scope this past weekend with athletes running Ultras, racing crits, triathlons and mountain biking. Gary Shaw knocked out another Hundo in his 11th state on his way to doing one in all 50. Sheree Wilson found a step on the podium at Trifest in Bentonville, AR. Charles Givens, Scott Hencye, and Tyler Hart represented well at the Gateway cup. Jett Flutie, Phil Jackson and John Long suited up in the colors for the return of Single Track Mind MTB Festival. Results below.
