Weekly Update 10/12/2020

Celebrating athletic achievement that better ourselves, our teammates and our community.

Trailfest was this past weekend, and by all indications, it was a very successful event.

In gear news; SBC bar tape should be shipping next week. We're cautiously optimistic.

Coming soon; Fairbanks Bike Shop "All Bikes Must Go Christmas Sale". Details below under "Upcoming". Volunteer spots for this sale are covered, but if you'd like to help out, don't hesitate to jump in. Also, share this event with your friends. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a two wheel Christmas present.

Holding this over for a few weeks;

The 2020/2021 Brand New
Pactimo
Kit Store is open until October 31 (no exceptions). https://teamstore.pactimo.com/.../springfield.../show . Gear will be shipped Dec 7.
Thanks to everyone who helped put this awesome line-up together. Our new manufacturer has done everything they can to make the kits as cost effective as possible for everyone – there is zero mark up on any item from SBCA – these kits are absolutely 100% priced as low as we could get them to you all.
Please note – the difference between the “Summit” and the “Ascent” lines in the bibs – the “Ascent” bibs are the super fancy line, which is why they are considerably more. The Summit jerseys are racing/aero cut.
There is also a "Club cut" version of the team kit that offers big and tall size options – the men’s and women’s “Century XL” jersey line.
Be sure you are ordering the one you want 🙂
Please, please, please refer to the size charts and fit videos before purchasing as Pactimo sizing can be very different than other vendors. If you are in any doubt after reviewing the charts please call Pactimo between 8:30-5 Mountain Time and someone will be happy to help you figure out your sizing (800-801-9869).

For non-Pactimo related questions - contact SBCA Director of Operations, @Stephanie Snow or just message the team via the team FB page.

Weekly Update 10/5/2020

Celebrating athletic achievement that better ourselves, our teammates and our community.

This past week was glorious for getting outside and enjoying some riding and running. I hope all of you got an opportunity to experience an Ozarks Autumn.

We'd like input on what types of events you would enjoy and also attend. Covid has changed the landscape of what we've been used to for participation. If you have ideas, we'd like your input. Contact Stephanie at stephs090386@gmail.com with your ideas.

Here's an opportunity for giving your input about how Springfield can move forward with parks, greenways, and open spaces. Folks, if you want better trails, bike lanes, sidewalks and just generally want to make Springfield more biker/pedestrian friendly, this is a way to have your voice heard. If you've been to northwest Arkansas anytime recently, you've seen what's possible with the right community engagement. Survey- Forward SGF

Weekly Update 8/31/2020

Celebrating athletic achievement that better ourselves, our teammates and our community.

The Leadership Committee met last Tuesday to formally pass the mantle on to Stephanie Snow as she takes over as Director. Several things were discussed and ideas passed around. More on those items as they gel. We filled some empty chairs on the committee. Please welcome the following; Dr. Evan Fusco- Non-Member Chair, Denise Temofeew- New Member Chair, Les Schaeffer- Monthly Team Videos. One thing we'd like to get everyone on board with is utilizing Slack to communicate with one another. It's a powerful platform and easy to use if you take a little time to become familiar with it. Here are some useful "Channels" on our Slack page to get you started;

General

Buy Sell Trade

 Fairbanks Bike Shop

Cycling

Running

Triathlon

You have to subscribe to each channel individually to follow that channel's content, and you can create a channel if you wish to. This platform is great if you want to keep up with events that may pop up through the week, coordinate a training group, or to plan a particular event. It's also a great spot to read and write race reports and results. Speaking of results, if you have them, you can send them to your team captains, or to me at longjohnhershel@gmail.com.

Curious about events- be sure to regularly check the SBC Calendar

The Newsletter will be on hiatus next week and there will not be an update on Labor Day Monday as scheduled. We'll be back the following week with whatever news that is news.

Weekly Update 8/24/2020

Celebrating athletic achievement that better ourselves, our teammates and our community.

There were a few things going on this past weekend in the life of SBC Athletics. Charles Givens threw it down at the MO State Crits. Charles gives a nice little race report HERE. Your editor (John Long) raced in the Pro Category at the MORC Rocks and Roots Enduro. Interesting format for this XC rider. After work Century is Friday night. Details below. These are always a good time, even if you don't do the full hundo. Events are being cancelled or moving virtual these days. It looks like most of our fall running events are moving virtual. Here's one to consider- Lost and Found of the Ozarks.
