Celebrating athletic achievements that better ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

This Week

May 1 - 3  The Social-Distancing Compliant Everesting Weekend Challenge

Anytime from 9 am Friday, May 1 - 5pm Sunday May 3, record all the elevation you can muster to see how many times collectively we can summit Everest to raise "Pints of Thanks!" for our healthcare workers.
Outstanding news - an anonymous donor has pledged 10 "Pints of Thanks!" for our healthcare workers for every team total Everest summit that is reached. Every time the team's cumulative total passes 29,029 feet of climbing during the weekend - our awesome benefactor will buy 10 "Pint of Thanks!".

Cabin fever? Stir crazy? We have just the challenge for you.
The Social Distancing Compliant Everesting Weekend Challenge begins Friday, May 1st to help the SBC "Pint of Thanks!" campaign.
Checkout the Everest Challenge details here.
Pick a challenge, cycling, running, walking. Virtual or not, solo or contribute your elevation to the team by joining the Strava group. Let's see cumulatively how many times we can climb Everest in one weekend - together while being apart.
For the fundraising part, get your friends and family to cheer you on (virtually) by contributing to the SBC "Pint of Thanks!" for Healthcare Workers Campaign
Pick a hill, close to home and ride, run, or walk it until you can't. (Efforts should be remote/socially-distancing compliant - riding/running your own hills near your own homes. Then add the feet you have climbed towards the team's Everest total on Strava).

The Eversting calculator is here.

Here is the "Pint of Thanks!" link to share with your friends.

Join the Strava Club here.

Individuals who complete the challenge will get their own Brewer's Choice case and a limited edition t-shirt (as long as you can prove you got folks to virtually support you by contributing to the "Pint of Thanks!" campaign too).
To Finish- when we're done - at 5pm CST on Sunday, May 3, let's all raise a glass to the Healthcare workers around the world!

The Covid-19 Social Distancing TT Series
This week's course Strafford Course ~ 12 mi (~20km) This should be a pretty fast and flat course consisting of 2 clockwise connected loops.

The Rules:

  • You can ride the segment anytime during the event window and as many times as you like but you may only submit ONE entry and it has to be ridden during the event window.
  • This is an individual time trial. Must be a standing start, no lead outs, no teams, no drafting, no group riding, etc. Its all on the honor system folks so please play nice. You have to aboslutely observe all local, state, and federal rules regarding social distancing and do not participate in groups.

In lieu of any entry fee, we kindly ask that you donate $10, or whatever you feel appropriate, to a local cause of your choice supporting those affected by the Covid-19 crisis. We are all very fortunate to be able to participate in a virtual event in light of the current situation and it would be awesome if we could all channel our gratitude towards helping others. If a donation is tough right now, please just try to do something nice for someone instead. We will figure out how to hold a group celebration after the pandemic!!!
BOTH COURSES IN THIS SERIES ARE OPEN TO TRAFFIC AND WILL NOT BE MARSHALLED. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS, SIGNS, RULES, AND GENERALLY BE GOOD CITIZENS AND AMBASSADORS OF CYCLING.

Pint of Thanks for Our Healthcare Heroes

SBC's "A Pint of Thanks!" Campaign for our Healthcare Heroes has launched!!!

At a time when our country (that was built on the strength and sweat of Do'ers) has been sent hom to shelter in place - we all fee the frustration of seeming helpless, when what we really want is to help defeat COVID-19.
Well - here's a way to be able to do something for our healthcare heroes for when this is all done, to tell them thanks and to tell them that we are thinking of them now!
Buy a healthcare worker you know a "Ping of Thanks!" or a "Crowler of Thanks!" Click on the link, pay online and send in the healthcare worker's name and address.
Don't know a healthcare worker but still want to help? Buy a "Pint of Thanks!" or a "Crowler of Thanks!" and just register it as "Anonymous". We'll save the give for the next healthcare worker who comes to SBC (once we're allowed to reopen) with their healthcare institution ID card. As long as there are "anonymous" gifts still available, we'll keep giving our healthcare heroes their "Pint of Thanks!" when they come see us. (One gift per visit will be able to be redeemed, once SBC has been allowed to reopen.) Are you a healthcare worker? Share this post with your fiends - let's get this moving for you guys!!!

Coming soon to a virtual Hincapie store near you - the men's and women's Greene Ghost running singlet.
