Celebrating athletic achievement that better ourselves, our teammates and our community.
New Director and lots happening at The Mothership. Thanks Neil for getting us where we are, and thanks Stephanie for taking us where we're going. See below;
As you might imagine, 2020 has been a trying year for SBC, but the Mothership’s ownership/management team is working tirelessly to figure out ways to make sure SBC survives in the new “normal”. To that end, we have had to be become ever more focused on the survival of SBC for our community, no matter how long the pandemic lasts and no matter how long term its affects remain. To that end and despite COVID, there are some really exciting things happening with and around SBC (think: taking over the distillery, putting in a new canning line, the new Blue Canoe American Pale Ale, the new event space: “The Cellar”, the new floor upstairs - to name but a few).
With the SBC ownership/management team laser focused on the ever-more time intensive future of the mothership, we are also ecstatic to report that the future of SBCA is equally as exciting, as we get ready to enter a new chapter of the SBCA story/journey. As many of you know, over the years (founded in 2012), SBCA has grown/transitioned from a small group of cyclists committed to the idea of riding 100 miles in less than 4 hours as Team SUB-4, to SBC Cycling and then pretty soon after, into SBC Athletics. But it is time for SBCA to reach a greater cross-section of the local athletics population - under younger, brighter and much more imaginative leadership.
To that end, Stephanie Snow (as you may know, Jonathan Traughber’s fiancé) has agreed to take over as Director of Operations for SBCA. As a mother and long-time supporter of SBCA, and with a background in logistics, Stephanie is perfectly suited to bring a fresh/younger/female/mother’s smorgasbord of new ideas and perspectives to SBCA in an organized, thorough, considered/measured, inclusive and completely non-political way. But as you can imagine – the opportunity, challenge and transition make Stephanie a little nervous, and while not by any means overwhelmed by the task, she will no doubt need all of our support, as the transition concludes.
If any of you have ideas on how to further the SBCA mission – please share them with Stephanie (email above in cc line: stephs090386@gmail.com ). She very much wants to hear from you about any ideas you have to make SBCA better and better for more and more people.

This is merely the end of the beginning.” Stephanie – thank you for stepping up to this enormous task - we are all so excited to help you guide SBCA into this new chapter and to see where you can take this group of amazing athletes/people.
