Celebrating athletic achievement that better ourselves, our teammates and our community.
The Leadership Committee met last Tuesday to discuss how to proceed in the coming year. There is a lot to digest here, including Meeting Minutes and new Group Ride Guidelines. Details are directly below. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Minutes;
Stephanie Snow called to order the regular meeting of the SBCA Board at 6:00 p.m. on November 17, 2020 at Springfield Brewing Company.
II. Roll call
Heather Cribbs conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Stephanie Snow, Jason Stratton, Neil Chanter, Bryan Barr, Heather Cribbs, Rachel Baker, Josh Mattix, Denise Temofeew, Gary Shaw, Evan Fusco, Wayne Stokes, and Gary Momphard.
III. Approval of minutes from last meeting
Minutes approved.
IV. Open issues
a. New Board Members: Amber Mulligan (Inclusivity Chair), Gary Momphard (Co-Event Chair with Heather Cribbs and Denise Temofeew), Gary Shaw (Beer Mile Chair), Denise Temofeew (Club Collaborator), Jonathan Traughber (Recruitment Chair)
b. Open position: Weekly Videographer
V. New Business
a. Results reporting- Each team member is responsible to report their results to their groups leader or to John Long/Stephanie Snow.
b. When sharing events, results, training on social media all team members should be using our SBCA hastags: #sbc_athletics #fortheloveofsport #wemakebeerforafter #wemakerootbeerforaftertoo
c. Running events: Rachel Baker suggests a last man standing event at Two Rivers or Sac. Also, would like to do an overnight ultra at Two Rivers.
d. Triathlon: Josh Mattix restated that this year would be great time to start the mentorship program.
e. Cycling: Brian Barr things are in the works to get some local races started in the Springfield area. We will continue to do more designated ride leaders for SBCA
Events to ensure everyone feels welcome. SBCA all women events need to come from and be led by the women of SBCA.
f. Gary Shaw Beer Mile monthly series. He is going to work towards making it a legal beer mile. This will be easier now that SBC is canning some of its beer.
g. Bike Shop- Jason Stratton we have workshop nights on the 11/23/2020 and 11/30/2020. Winter clearance sale is 12/5/2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We still need a few volunteers that day to help move the inventory out.
h. Evan Fusco our non-SBCA member chair- Shared that the sub 4-hour 100 mile image for cycling still lingers, and it is intimidating for outsiders to join our weekly rides for fear of being dropped. It would be helpful to project more on social media what we are about and that we are open to all. This will be something for Amber to work on. Also, being clear about the purpose of each ride and if there will be ride leaders for different paces.
i. Neil our founder and voice of the Mothership- This has been a tough year for restaurants in the area, and the mothership has struggled too. SBCA can support the mothership by being eating there, and obviously drinking beer there. Having more rides/runs or events starting and ending at SBC would be a great help too. One of SBC’s favorite things is having the team there enjoying beers and hanging out.
j. Pactimo kits will ship early December. They waived the minimums since we made such a large overall order!!
VI. Adjournment
Stephanie Snow adjourned the meeting at 6:38 p.m.

Celebrating athletic achievement that better ourselves, our teammates and our community.
Lots of red and black at Dogwood Canyon trail race this weekend. We had a couple of overall wins, some PRs and a handful of hardy individuals doubled up at Dogwood by running the 15k on Saturday and the 25k on Sunday. Nice job gang! The leadership committee meeting is coming up, details below under "Upcoming". We're still hoping to fill a few spots. If you're interested in getting involved, this is the way to do it.
