Weekly Update 6/7/2021

Celebrating athletic achievement that betters ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

SBC Athletics extends congratulations to all the area cyclists who participated in the Garmin Unbound Gravel race (formerly DK200) this weekend. By all reports, conditions were as tough as ever. No doubt that many stories about this year's version will be shared over beers in the future.

Some sad news for the team; Masters Cyclist Peter Van Rhein passed away over the weekend.  A memorial mass will be held Friday, June 10th at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sierra Club.

The first after-work century of 2021 will be held on June 18th, a week from this Friday. The usual drill. Start and finishing at SBC. This is a 100-mile ride with 50-60ish in the sunset and 40 in the moonlight. Bring lights and a positive group riding attitude. The moving average is usually 16-17mph. The ride will be faster in the daylight then slows up at night.

A sold-out Tour De Brew looks to have been as good as advertised. Not sure who won the collage contest, but the photos all looked like a great time was had by all.

The team Pactimo store is open for two more days! Make sure you order because this will be the last time the store is open for the year.  Link to Store

Tour de Rock is offering SBCA a 20% discount for registration with code SBCA2021 Link to Registration.

Continuing items of importance;

Pirate Perry Events is now offering SBCA 10% off of their events. There are a few exceptions on a few events; those races that they don't direct or own but are posted on their website. The code is "SBCA 10off".  Link to Events

Look for the Classic Beer Mile on the regular. It will be coming up every 3rd Saturday of the month. The next one will be on June 19th. Tell your beer-drinking/running friends. Also, look for new and better prizes! The information below in "Upcoming."

Are you and a bunch of teammates headed to a big event? An Ultra, a big gravel race, triathlon, or volunteering for a trail workday? Wouldn't some SBC beer afterward be refreshing? Would you like to take along some SBC Brews to share? Contact Neil. He will hook you up.

Join SLACK. It is the best way to keep in touch with teammates and coordinate group activities.

SBC Bar tape is finally in and available again. If you ordered a set, you could pick it up at the front desk at SGB- $25 cash only.

If you would like a commemorative brick to celebrate an athletic milestone, get in touch with Neil. These are really cool and stand as a lasting reminder of your epic achievement.
