Weekly Update 1/29/2019
Celebrating athletic achievements that better ourselves, our teammates, and our community.

Hey gang,

Another week closer to spring. I know it was warm enough to get out and do and some did. Rosie Laughlin won the women's overall and Pam Sailors won a AG 2nd place at the Jack Frost 5k. Steve and Erin Edminster laid down some excellent times at the Gulf Shores AL half marathon. A PR for Erin if I read it correctly, at a smoking sub 6 pace.

Kit Stores
The prices for the kit stores are all manufacturer's prices. There is no mark up for SBC or SBC Athletics. Kit stores open until midnight, Sat, Feb 2. That means order this week!!!

We are also getting redesigned socks by DeFeet. They are the Cyclismo 6" model. There will be 73 pairs available about the time the kits are shipped and will be approximately $10 a pair.

Please send results and pictures to Michelle Rador, John Long, AJ Hemingway, and Cynthia Bradley (all 4) through messenger on Facebook.

Triathlon Folks

If you are interested in triathlon training, please contact Michelle Beach. Please give her an idea of what kind of training you would be interested in (e.g. strength training, swim drills, transition, etc.). We would like to know how many SBC members are Triathletes.

This Week

Upcoming

  • Travelling trivia night Sat, Feb. 23 @ SBC fund raiser for the bike shop Trivia Night  Jason Holland and his brother’s travelling Trivia night book/reserve your table  (8 players per table).  We really should have a cyclists’ table, runner’s table, triathlete’s table.
  • Winter Lecture series is Feb 7 – please come to this – only one this year. Winter Lecture Series Ask A Pro/Coach/Doc Anything Night
  • We need a firm head count of who is planning to participate in the SBC Winter Cycling Camp 2019. Unfortunately, the Mount Magazine Arkansas State Park lodging rates will go up effective March 1st to “In Season” rates.  We felt the nightly cost was just too much, and have been looking for a different base camp.  We’ve decided to hold the SBC Winter 2019 Cycling Camp out of Russellville, AR.  We’re negotiating with a couple of different hotels and need a solid head count to get the best rate. Right now, we can say the nightly cost for the hotel will be $50/per-person-per-night (based on double occupancy), breakfast is included. We’re still looking at March 1 - 3.  If the group is large enough and if there is interest, there may be a gravel ride option one day. We’re still planning to drive over to Paris, AR and do the Mount Magazine climb on Saturday. Right now, we need a firm response by Wednesday, January 30 as to who is planning to attend.  Also, let us know if you want a gravel ride included… Respond on #Slack in the thread, or respond to Paul@Hardin4.com. Thanks. It’s going to be a great weekend!!!!
